Chefs

In Chef’s Hands gives chefs an opportunity to really give back and connect with the community. We work with a number of experienced chefs who work one-on-one with people with special needs, illness, physical limitations, or disabilities for a day of food, fun, learning and laughs.

  • Rodelio Aglibot (Sunda, Koi, Yi Cuisine)

“Food is about connecting—and making a connection between people with food is healing. Sharing the passion of the people at In Chef’s Hands is one of the most inspiring experiences I’ve ever had.”
  • Valerie Bolon (Culinary Speakeasy, Top Chef)

“The best part was seeing how happy [the participant] was to cook for her parents. They all loved it!”
  • Scott Weiner (Fifty50, Roots Handmade Pizza)

"Cooking with someone is an experience that two people will always share and it's amazing how much Eric's personality opened up throughout the course of the evening. At the core of cooking a meal for people you care about is your desire to please them and make them happy. The look on Eric's face when he realized that he had created a positive dining experience for his family will always stick with me. It was as rewarding for me as it was for him."
  • Giuseppe Tentori (GT Fish, Boka)

“I was worried about making the experience the best possible event for Mazen. But he was so at ease in the kitchen and really cherished our time together that I felt privileged to work with him. In Chef’s Hands is a great organization that teaches people hands-on cooking and I loved doing it.”
  • Tony Priolo (Piccolo Sogno)

“The experience with Gina was very inspiring and I truly admired her courage. What I realized during our time together in the kitchen, is that I was the lucky one who learned from her!”
  • James Gottwald (Dir. Culinary Operations at Rockit Ranch Productions)

“The In Chef’s Hands participants probably love cooking more than I do! It was awesome to spend a day together…and delicious.”
  • Russell Kook (Florentine, Hell’s Kitchen)

“I’ll remember today for the rest of my life. It was awesome to see everyone working together. I’m telling my industry friends to come check it out and volunteer.”
  • John Manion (formerly Branch 27)

“Seeing how someone went through so much but makes the most of it made me want to work harder at what I do. It makes you realize how strong people can be. Thanks for letting me help out, In Chef’s Hands!”
  • Chris Pandel (The Bristol)

"When they say that cooking is therapeutic, it’s true. When you’re able to take some time and make something, you feel good. Sharing that with someone who might not get to cook as much as they’d like really brought a smile to my face.”
  • Patricio Sandoval (Mercadito)

“The participants were great. They did such a good job on the dishes. I want them to come work at my restaurant!”
  • Mark Sparacino (Prosecco)

“Working with In Chef’s Hands was a really good experience. The volunteers were on top of everything and the family was super nice and fun to cook with. I can’t wait to do it again.”
  • Todd Stein (The Florentine, Cibo Matto, David Burke)

“Compared to what Rachel has been through, and to have such a positive attitude about it was so inspiring. I was happy just to hang out for a while and cook, and I loved seeing how excited everyone was to eat together!”
  • Jared Van Camp (Old Town Social)

“Today was really what cooking is all about. Getting together, having fun, preparing a meal and then enjoying it. I was just happy to be a part of it.”
